SUMMARY:Disability Dialogues Book Group
DESCRIPTION:\n\nJoin us for a book group that reads and discusses books 
 exploring disability. We read a variety of fiction\, nonfiction\, and 
 memoir - books may be written by disabled authors\, feature disabled 
 characters\, tell the stories of real people with disabilities\, or examine 
 contemporary or historical topics related to disability. Disability isn't a 
 monolith\, so we aim to read books that include different disabilities\, 
 themes\, and perspectives. Everyone is welcome\, and new members can join 
 anytime.\n\n \n\nCopies of the group's current book are available for 
 checkout at the front desk of the Library. This month\, we will be 
 discussing Demystifying Disability: What to Know\, What to Say\, and How to 
 Be an Ally by Emily Ladau.\n\n \n\nIn honor of Disability Pride Month in 
 July\, Emily Ladau will be speaking at the Newton Free Library! Join us in 
 person or on Zoom for Demystifying Disability: A Community Conversation 
 with Author Emily Ladau on Wednesday\, July 9 at 7pm\, presented in 
 partnership between the Newton Commission on Disability\, Understanding Our 
 Differences\, and the Newton Free Library. Attending the Disability 
 Dialogues Book Group is a great way to explore the themes of Emily Ladau's 
 work before her event at the Library!\n\n \n\nThe Disability Dialogues Book 
 Group meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 7pm. During daylight 
 savings time (March-October)\, the group meets in person at the Library. 
 During standard time (November-February)\, the group meets virtually via 
 Zoom. The group is co-sponsored by the Understanding Our Differences\, the 
 Newton Commission On Disability\, and the Newton Free Library. Questions?
