Women in World Jazz: Women Activists for Peace and Social Justice

Join Women in World Jazz (WIWJ) for a virtual concert that will feature composers who use their music to promote social justice and peace. Learn about women who left their impact on history including Joan Baez and Nina Simone, as well as contemporary composers and activists such as Beyoncé, Annie Lenox and Angélique Kidjo. The event will feature live presentations and pre-recorded performances/virtual collaborations.
WIWJ's international ensemble of all-female performers, present a variety of educational programs for the whole family that showcase music from around the world.
This program is supported in part by a grant from the Newton Cultural Council, a local agency, which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
