Getting Newton Beyond Recycling to Zero Waste
Event box
Cities around the country--including Boston, Cambridge and Brookline--are establishing Zero Waste plans to prioritize waste reduction. Come find out what Newton has accomplished so far and what more can be done to move our city toward zero waste. Measurable goals, variable size carts, ‘less cost for less trash ' programs, and citywide organics collection are some of the strategies that can help us reduce trash and buffer us against cost increases and environmental decline. This program is part of the ongoing Green Newton series.
Speakers will include:
- Kirstie Pecci, Director of the Zero Waste Project and Senior Attorney at Conservation Law Foundation
- Waneta Trabert, Newton’s Director of Sustainable Materials Management Division
- Sunwoo Kahng, Chair of Newton Sustainable Materials Management Commission
