Virtual Screening: Legacy of Love - Martin Luther King and Coretta Scott's love story

Join Writer, Producer and Director, Roberto Mighty, for a virtual screening of his new documentary, Legacy of Love, as recently seen on WGBH-TV. The film, hosted by EMMY award winning newscaster and Pastor Reverend Liz Walker, reveals the mostly unknown story of Martin Luther King and Coretta Scott’s formative years in 1950’s Boston - where they met as students, fell in love, and started on the road to becoming worldwide leaders and iconic symbols for the rights of oppressed people all over the world. The half hour documentary also highlights the influence of Coretta Scott’s leftist politics on their mutual trajectories. Taking stylistic cues from narrative filmmaking, this documentary explores their romantic relationship and their dreams for a life of activism and family. In terms of storytelling, Legacy of Love utilizes living witnesses, historical dramatizations, music and original illustrations.

A Q and A with Mr. Mighty will follow. Cosponsored by the Newton Human Rights Commission.

The Zoom login information will be sent the afternoon of the program. Registration closes two hours prior to the event start time.
