CANCELLED! History Series: Images in the U.S. Women's Suffrage Movement

Join Allison K. Lange, assistant professor of history at the Wentworth Institute of Technology, for a talk that will analyze gender, images and political power from the founding of the U.S. through the passage of the 19th amendment granting women the right to vote in 1920. Based on her forthcoming book, Picturing Political Power: Images in the Women’s Suffrage Movement (May 2020 University of Chicago Press), Ms. Lange will examine the ways that suffragists used images throughout their campaign. This program cosponsored by Historic Newton and is part of a year-long series of events sponsored by the Women’s Right-to-Vote Coalition of Newton.
