Katharine Lee Bates: Poet of America the Beautiful

Join Melinda M. Ponder for an intriguing talk on the origins of the song, America the Beautiful. Many don’t  know that its author, Katharine Lee Bates, has local ties. Learn how Bates’ Falmouth childhood, her student days at Newton High School and Wellesley College inspired her to write the first version of the song and why she revised it ten years later.
