Disability Dialogues Conversation Group
Event box
Join us for a monthly discussion group exploring disability culture, connection, and community. Each meeting centers on a specific theme—ranging from creativity and adaptive technology to humor, nature, and history. To keep the group low-barrier and easy to join, instead of reading full books, we pair each topic with short-form resources like a brief article, a quick video, or a podcast episode. Disability isn’t a monolith, so we explore a wide range of themes, backgrounds, and lived experiences. Everyone is welcome, no homework is required, and new members can join anytime. Come connect with a supportive, welcoming group!
This month's theme is Disability in Pop Culture: The Good, The Bad, and The Bizarre—exploring how TV, movies, and media portray disability, from empowering representation to funny and ridiculous tropes.
To ask questions about the group, get the current month's discussion materials, or join the group's email list, please email Jenni at jacosta@ understandingourdifferences. org
The Disability Dialogues Group meets monthly at 7pm, usually on the fourth Tuesday of the month but with some schedule adjustments. The group is co-sponsored by Understanding Our Differences and the Newton Free Library.
