Sing & Play with Newton Folk Music
Event box
Join Newton Folk Music to sing and play a wide range of folk music, from traditional to contemporary, in a low-key, warm, and friendly environment.
Singers and instrumentalists of all levels are welcome. Going around the circle, everyone will have the chance to suggest a song — and to lead it if they’d like. You can always pass, of course, and the organizers are here to help.
We’ll provide printed songbooks with selected favorites for participants to use during the session, or you can bring a tablet to reference an electronic version. In addition, we can project chords and lyrics from a broader range of songs on a screen at the front of the room. Want to get a sense of the range of songs Newton Folk Music sings? Check out their list from past sessions. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the organizers at events@newtonfolk.org.
This program is geared towards adults, but all ages are welcome. Children 9 years old and younger must be accompanied and supervised by their caregiver at all times. Registration is encouraged to help us know how best to set up the room—plus you’ll get a reminder for the event if you sign up. Walk-ins are also welcome.
