Doodling Workshop for Stress Relief. Photo of a hand doodling a cat.

May is Mental Health Health Awareness Month! Join local art therapist Tova Speter for a therapeutic art workshop exploring the meditative art of Zentangle doodling. Participants will engage in mindful doodling techniques that encourage presence, relaxation and self expression - no art experience required. The guided session will highlight the ways intentional drawing can support stress relief, foster a sense of calm and accomplishment, and nurture emotional well-being.

About the presenter: Tova Speter is a local artist and art therapist with a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling and Art Therapy from Lesley University. She has over 25 years of experience working at the intersection of arts and healing as well as facilitating large scale collaborative art projects to build community and connection (including our recent Leaves in the Library project). Tova offers art therapy services through her private practice, leads therapeutic art workshops for adults, and works as a practicing painter, installation artist, and community muralist. All of her work is based on her belief that engaging in art-making is inherently therapeutic and formative.

This program is in partnership with the Newton Health & Human Services Department. The workshop is geared towards adults, but teens and tweens are also welcome.
