[CLASS CANCELLED] [CLASS FULL] ELL - Reading an American Newspaper

Can you trust what you read in an American newspaper to be truthful and honest? Respected American journalists are expected to not present a bias in their news reporting. But not all journalists or newspapers and new outlets abide by that. Do you know how to tell if a news article has a bias? Do you know the difference between a tabloid and a broadsheet? Between a news story and a feature? A retired Boston Globe editor and columnist will help you sort out the differences and learn some journalism lingo, too. This class is for advanced English learners.

This class meets in person (on the first floor of the library) on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m., from April 1 until May 6, 2025.

The teacher's name is Barbara. For more information, please contact Andrew Shapira, ELL Program Coordinator, at 617-796-1364 or newtonell@minlib.net.
